This policy explains what happens to personal information in connection with this website, jcpatissier.ca, operated by JC Patissier in Thorold, Ontario. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
The short version
This website has no contact form, no newsletter sign-up, no online ordering and no user accounts. We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and the site sets no cookies of its own. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone.
What the site collects
Nothing you type
There is nowhere on this site to submit information to us. The only way the site invites contact is by showing our phone number, email address and street address so you can reach us directly.
Server logs
Like virtually every website, ours is served by a hosting provider that records standard technical information for each request — the IP address making it, the browser and device type, the page requested, and the date and time. These logs exist to run and secure the site and to diagnose faults. We do not use them to build a profile of you or to identify individual visitors.
The map
The Visit section embeds a map served by Google. When that map loads, your browser connects to Google directly, and Google may receive your IP address and set its own cookies. That exchange is between you and Google, governed by Google's Privacy Policy rather than this one; we receive no data back from it. If you would rather not load it, you can use the written address above the map instead — it is the same address.
If you contact us
If you email or phone us, we keep what you send only as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation. We will not add you to a mailing list — we do not operate one.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and uses no local storage. The only cookies that may appear are those set by Google when the embedded map loads, as described above.
Children
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and to see it;
- ask us to correct it if it is wrong;
- withdraw consent to our use of it, subject to legal requirements; and
- complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied with how we have responded — see priv.gc.ca.
Because this site collects nothing directly, in most cases the honest answer to the first question will be that we hold nothing at all. Contact us using the details below and we will respond.
Changes to this policy
If the site changes in a way that affects this policy — a contact form, an online ordering system, analytics — we will update this page and change the date at the top.
